To do Ta-done

Something on your “to-do list” that never gets done.

Honestly, does anything ever
Get crossed off? Don't we, one
At a time, shuffle to-dos from
Top to next on our lists? It'll be
Done tomorrow. Or next week.
Like a rotating resolution, to-do
Is an aspiration, one more thing
To do. Keeping up with your list
Of to dos? Great. You're done!

Accomplished

What are you most proud of in your life?

When I peek back, through some poems
I have listed, the skill -of some of them-
Pleases and surprises. I hope for this kind
Of success. I look for the kind of skill I find
In these. I am proud to have achieved it.
When I look back to see everything fit,
I feel accomplished. I experience pride.
Pride of authorship. Proud. Satisfied.
I wrote this. And that. With skill so I know
I have succeeded. I wrote it and it's good.

Just musing

Inspiration? Is it overrated
Or just underutilized? Why
Must I search to be inspired?
It's all so much harder than
It would be if I were visited
By my own personal muse.
He could drop in without
Fanfare and unannounced
To give my work a goose in
The right direction. Every
Day and any time, I would
Be urged to create. Oh, and
Yes, all my writing would be
Beautiful and beastly. It all
Would be just so inspired!

What Fears Have You Overcome and How?

Daily Prompt

Fraidy cat fraidy cat...
It's a taunt and a state
Of mind. Mind you, I am
Not timid. Nor scared.
Not a scaredy cat, nor
Am I prone to anxious
Moments where fear
Is unresolved. Panicky
When unprovoked by
Real threats... that's
Just unreasonable. I
Only panic at genuine
Provocation and jump
When you call my name
And I am deep in thought.
It's reasonable to fear
The dark and strangers
And food I never tasted
Before. That mountain's
Too high. That valley's
Too low. This is an odd
And unfamiliar place.
