What o’clock?

Is it cruel to note the time
So soon after we lost an hour?
Time shifts, in a timeshift, 
An hour ahead, an hour behind
Fall back, Spring ahead, more
Light, longer light, daytime
Still and it's now half past five

Affirming

I am okay. I sleep.
This uttered in the
Middle of the night
Does not reassure
But perhaps affirms.

I am awake but I will
Find my way back to
Snoozing soon. This
Uttered in the middle
Of the night doesn't
Reassure but affirms.

I am okay. I sleep.
I slept. I did. This
Uttered in the light 
Of dawn reassures
And confirms I am
Okay. I welcome the
Light, as the dark is
Fading, has faded. I
Am awake to the joy
Of a new day. I am 
Okay and I miss him.

Days follow

You will say it is not but
Summers that mark our
Life. There's winters too.
You will be wise. I will be
Foolish. But as it is my life
And I will mark it, year upon
Year, by the passing of the
Summers. Cool nights, and
Warm days. Idyllic summers
Day follows day, each in its
Succession makes my life

Warm days cool nights 
Succeed each other to
No greater purpose than
To make up a summer
And summer succeeding
One upon the other to no
Greater or lesser purpose
Than to make up a life

Everyday

Every day, not ordinary, not
Everyday. Make more of what
You've got. Days are a gift to
Treasure and enjoy. It's always
A new day that dawns, even
When it feels like you've been
There before. Every day, not
Ordinary, it's extraordinary.

Repeat, please

Over and again, it's 
The repetition, it forms
A rhythm all its own.
Again and again. The
Suspense is waiting
For Phil or Chuck to
Spot their shadows
And seal our fates til
Spring springs the
Tulips from under
The earth, again and
Again, over and over.

A day unlike

There are no two alike 
I speak of whole days
Not mere snowflakes
Or, in the procedural
Vein, fingerprints, the
Very tip of which are
Said to be unique, no
Two like each other but
Each special from sun
Up to sundown, rising
And falling before a 
New day peaks from
Behind the moonrise or
Is it the setting moon
There are no two alike.
I speak of entire days.
