Sunset

It was brighter than this
If not this then what?
What will inspire me if
The blinding ring of the
Sun fails to bring words
Rushing forth to describe
To capture to encapsulate
Its fiery splendor? Do I
Need more reinforcement
A bigger vocabulary, more
Colorful and spicier then
The one I use every day.
Is awe overwhelmed by the
Sharp but edgy sphere I
See setting to my west?

Saturday. Impending eclipse

This is a sky full of expectations
This sky is brewing an epic event
Everyone says so, and I want to
Join in and be the enjoyer, happy
To watch for a darkening sky, a
Portent. An eclipse could bring all
Sorts of myths and tales of odd
Predictions and presentiments.
In sooth, the bleak will not foretell
Future events of a world plunged
Into obscurity. It will happen, but
Not again for a long, many years

What the future brings

The sky was truly pink before
The fading light morphed to
Rich blue streaks alternating
With the red, the colors of an
Evening spent in anticipation
Of a beautiful tomorrow, an
Expectation promised by the
Proverb shared by sailors as
They read the skies, charting
Their course across silken
Waters or hoping for quiet
Seas after rough afternoons
Caught them in turbulence.
Landlubbers need not worry
Where is this heavenly road leading?
Will its sheer beauty take me to the
Happy knowledge that surpasses all
Things earthbound? I want to realize
The allure of the world in its wonders.
Is this the way to the end of the world?
I am an atheist and will not acknowledge
This sort of transcendence but am so
Happy for you that you are pulled to
The spiritual, knowing your way on a
Highway to heaven, a road to nowhere.
The path that leads you to everywhere.
Where does this beautiful road lead?
